Stroke survivors, will have to 'Think Outside The Box' to benefit fully from their home physical rehabilitation programme and this video discusses a number of concepts that are certainly in this category.

There are probably more than 30 different 'safe' therapies that can be carried out by your stroke survivor at home which will have the potential to improve function and boost recovery. This video discusses my selection of 4 therapies that could be part of your morning routine. I discuss the scheduling of these therapies because this is hugely important.

Chapter 19: Making ‘Good Morning’ Good

THE TAKEAWAY

1.       You must not be afraid to think outside the box. This involves trying something innovative and taking a chance. Reinforce to your stroke survivor these four beliefs:

a.       What they believe influences what will happen in their body.

b.       The more they educate themselves about physical recovery and neuroplasticity, the better.

c.       The more repetitions or hours of safe therapy they undertake, the better their recovery will be.

d.       Their home is often the best place to undertake their program.

2.       The sequence of therapies is important to ensure that your stroke survivor’s brain gets activated and excited in an appropriate fashion. This will give them the best chance of creating neuroplasticity and enhancing their recovery.
